F & G

In binding and finishing, abbreviation for folded and gathered, referring to book pages which have been folded into signatures and gathered together into complete books, but which have not yet been bound. F & Gs are often used to proof the signatures and book block prior to actual binding. An F & G is also known as a check copy.
