Fineness-of-Grind

A measure of the uniformity of pigment particle dispersion in a printing ink vehicle. Inadequate dispersion, or excessively large pigment particles, can generate various ink and printing defects and problems. (See Ink: Printing Ink Defects and Problems.) The fineness-of-grind can be quantitatively measured using a grindometer.
