Gender

In cabling terminology, term used to describe whether a connector has pins and is thus designed to be plugged into another device (a male connector) or has slots or holes into which a plug is inserted (a female connector). Special intermediate connectors called gender changers are often required to make one cable or connector attach to another properly.
