Kanji

A special font or character set consisting of about 5,000 symbols used in Japanese ideogrammatic writing. Kanji characters are dervived directly from earlier Chinese characters. In the computerized setting of Kanji, each character is described by two bytes of data. Kanji is also known as honji.
