Perfecting

The printing of the reverse side of an already-printed sheet, especially when it is performed on a perfecting press, utilizing either special transfer cylinders or printing units to simultaneously print on two sides during one pass through the press. See Perfecting Press. Printing on the reverse side of a printed sheet by means of successive passes through a press is commonly referred to as backing up.
