Phototypesetting

In typography, the setting of type or the preparation of copy for printing in which light is shined through a photomatrix (or outline of the character to be imaged) onto a photosensitive film or paper which, after development, bears the set type with the specifications indicated during input. Also called photocompositing and photocomposition.
