Rough Cut

In binding and finishing, a style of edge trimming on trade books consisting of edges which are ragged, not neatly and squarely trimmed. See also Rough Front and Foot.

The term rough cut also refers to a preliminary edit of a video production or presentation, used to approximate the final master tape.
