In graphic arts and design, a type of "scrapbook" or collection of examples of good design—such as published advertisements, page designs, etc.—from which an artist can draw for inspiration. A swipe file, despite its name, is not meant to promote or facilitate plagiarism, but rather to stimulate one's own creative juices.
