Tensile-at-the-Fold

A test for coated papers to be used in heatset drying that aims to determine how well the paper will withstand folding and degradation due to heat without cracking along the fold. In a hot oven, a paper sample is subjected to conditions that simulate those of heatset drying. After a prescribed amount of time, the paper sample is taken out and folded and the tensile strength at the fold is determined.
