Vegetable Oil

An oil derived from agricultural sources and used in many oil-based printing ink vehicles. Commonly used vegetable oils include rapeseed and linseed oils, which need to undergo processing before becoming suitable for use in ink. The most recent development in vegetable oil-based ink vehicles is soy ink, utilizing soybean oil. Soy ink, especially when used in newsink, has excellent print qualities and helps eliminate the smudging of newsprint.
