Anti-Aliasing

In computer graphics, reducing the undesirable stair-step pattern (aliasing) that occurs along the edges of images on a computer monitor or on low-resolution output. Typically, anti-aliasing on monitors (in programs such as Adobe Photoshop) involves reducing the intensity of intermediate pixels to give the appearance of a smooth line or edge.
