Bamboo

General name for a variety of species of woody grasses, primarily of the genus Bambusa, native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, Africa, and North America. (The most widely used bamboo species is Bambusa vulgaris.) In some countries, bamboos are used as a fibrous source for papermaking.
