Blind Tooling

In early bookbinding, a means of decorating a book cover by drawing a design on a sheet of paper, placing it on top of the book cover, and using heated tools to "trace" the design onto the cover. Blind tooling was often performed as a prelude to gold tooling. Also known as Blinding In.
