Characteristic Curve

In photography, a diagram created by plotting the logarithm of the exposure time of a photosensitive material on the x-axis and the density of the exposed materials on the y-axis, prepared for a particular developer. The characteristic curve shows the effect of every length of exposure on the image density. Also known as a a D log E curve.
