Copyboard

The portion of a graphic arts camera comprising an adjustible frame—usually with a glass cover—on which original copy is mounted while it is photographed. Depending on the type of camera (i.e., whether it is a vertical camera or a horizontal camera), the copyboard may be oriented horizontally or vertically, respectively. When oriented vertically, the copyboard can usually be tilted to a horizontal position to facilitate the positioning of the original. The variable distance bertween the lens and the copyboard determines the reproduction size of the original. See Photography: Graphic Arts Photography.
