Copyediting

A stage of the publishing process during which an editor—either in-house or freelance—reviews a manuscript and marks grammatical, typographical, and content-related errors. The copyediting process also involves correct markup of text for typesetting and formatting. Copyediting is always performed before actual typesetting. Also spelled as two words, copy editing.
