Fading

A progressive decreasing of the color strength or brightness of a printing ink, paper, or other material upon exposure to light, heat, or with age. (See Permanence and Lightfastness.)

In telecommunications, fading refers to any decrease in intensity—or attenuation—of a signal. See Attenuation.
