First Parallel Fold

On in-line folding equipment, a parallel fold made in the jaw folder immediately after the former fold, and often after the web has been slit in half in the direction of web travel. A fold made in this manner produces eight-page multiples of the number of webs produced. The size of the signature created is one-half the cutoff length by one-half the width of the web. Also called a tabloid fold.
