Genlock

In digital video, a device used to synchronize analog video signals with digital video signals. The analog signals are imported from an external source (such as a VCR) and merged with a digital image. A genlock allows the overlay of computer-generated graphics or other video signals on a video signal, used in video editing, multimedia, teleconferencing, and other such applications. Genlock is an abbreviation for synchronization generator lock.
