High-End

Descriptive of any system or device that is both highly expensive and of superior quality, compared to other similar yet lower-priced systems and devices. For example, in scanning, a high-end drum scanner is likely to cost tens of thousands of dollars, but produces the best image quality, as compared to a low-end flatbed scanner, which costs around $1,000, fits on a desktop, and generates relatively inferior (but still workable) image quality.
