Import

To input data from a computer file created in one software application to another software application. The imported data thus needs to be in a format that can be read by different software applications. Many page make-up applications—such as QuarkXPress or Adobe PageMaker—allow importing of various types of files, as a means of assembling both text and graphics in a single file. See also Export.
