PROM

(programmable read-only memory) Type of memory that can be programmed after the time of manufacture, but once programmed cannot normally be changed. A certain type of PROM which is programmed by exposure to ultraviolet light may be reprogrammed with special equipment.

Solid-state memory for storing programs provided by the vendor to customize the system before delivery to the user.
