Polyvinyl Alcohol

A thermoplastic, water-soluble polymer derived from the hydrolysis (the splitting of a compound into separate compounds through chemical reaction with water) of polyvinyl acetate, used as a resin in printing inks. An emulsion of polyvinyl alcohol is also widely used—in combination with either of the bichromates—in the preparation of screen printing stencils and screens.
