Remoistenable Pattern Gluer

An in-line fnishing device found on a web press which is used to apply an adhesive, a fragrance, or a "scratch-and-sniff" material to a printed product, utilizing a raised plate mounted to a cylinder. A transfer roller meters the film of the material to be applied and transfers it to the plate cylinder, which in turn transfers it to the printed web passing between the plate and impression cylinders. Such devices are often used for direct mail pieces, envelopes, and insert cards (such as perfumed cards) for magazines, newspapers, and other such publications.
