Rotoscoping

Frame-by-frame projection of a live-action scene, or any other previously shot footage, to trace a specific motion. used to create drawn animation with a life-like motion. Also used to accurately position special effects or graphics into the projected footage.

The tracing over an image to create a special effeect.

Technique by which film or live-action video is "traced" frame-by-frame and reproduced as animation, or a combination of animation and live-action video.
