Short-Dwell Coater

A type of blade coater, a device used to apply a coating to a paper surface, utilized primarily for the high-speed coating of lightweight papers. Coating is deposited on the moving paper web through a slot, and a metering blade immediately smooths out the coating, filling in the "valleys" in the paper surface. (See Coating and Blade Coater.)
