Suction Roller

A type of vacuum-powered roller used in the delivery section of a sheetfed printing press (especially one used in offset lithography)—alone or in tandem with blow-downs—to slow down a press sheet as it leaves the delivery chain and enters the delivery pile. The force of the vacuum pulling down on the sheet keeps the sheet steady as it is about to fall onto the stack. (See Delivery Section.)
