Unit

In printing, a shorthand term for a printing unit. See Printing Unit.

In typography, some fraction of an em space which, due to the variation of the size of an em according to point size, varies from point size to point size. (See Relative Unit.) The greater the number of units into which an em can be divided, the greater the latitude in the assigning of character widths. See Unit System.
