16-Bit

Descriptive of computer systems (especially microprocessors) and software which process data as 2-byte units (one byte equals 8 bits). The greater the number of bytes that a system can process at any one time, the faster the system. The Intel 8086/8088 and 80286 are 16-Bit processors. See also 32-Bit and Sixty-4-Bit.
