Air-Knife Coater

A device used to apply a coating to the surface of a paper. It operates in a manner akin to that of a blade coater, in that a thick layer of surplus coating is deposited on the surface of the base stock, but an air-knife coater uses a concentrated jet of air to level and meter the coating across the surface. (See also Coating and Blade Coater.)
