A paper roll defect in which the web does not unwind uniformly and whose width fails to support web tension, caused by inconsistent paper thickness, excessive stretching of the thicker areas during winding, or by winding the roll too tightly. Bagginess at the edges of a roll is called slack edge and bagginess at the center is called slack center. Slack edges can also be caused by the absorption of moisture at the edges of the paper roll.
