Bidirectional Interface

A connection between two pieces of equipment (such as a computer and a peripheral device) in which data can be transmitted in both directions. In imaging, a bidirectional interface is used to connect a scanner to a color electronic prepress system so as to allow the scanner to both transmit data into the system and to output film.
