Any thin, long strip—either sharpened or not—made of metal, plastic, rubber, or other material used for cutting, slitting, scraping, folding, coating, etc. A blade used for cutting is commonly known as a knife. A blade for scraping is commonly known as a doctor blade.
A blade is also the flexible printing edge of a squeegee used in screen printing. See Squeegee.
