Acronym for computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing. CAD/CAM is a general term used to refer to the integration of computers in both the design and manufacturing processes, where technical drawings and models are made on a computer, and the computer is then used to operate some or all of the manufacturing processes, accomplished by translating a specific designed part to a numerical control language.
