Calibration

In any system, the act of setting device parameters in accordance with certain prescribed or "ideal" values, especially to compensate for variables in a working environment. For example, see Color Calibration, which is the optimization of a scanner's settings. Computer monitors can also be calibrated to compensate for changes in ambient light.
