Close Box

On a Macintosh computer, a small square located in the upper left-hand corner of a window which, when clicked on with the mouse, closes an open file or an open window.

In the Microsoft Windows environment, a close box is a small square, containing a minus sign, located in the top left-hand corner of every window. When clicked on, the system menu is opened. When it is double-clicked, the window or open file is closed.
