Crash

An abrupt failure—characterized by a "freezing" or "bombing"—of a computer system or attached device, caused by a wide variety of software or hardware malfunctions. One particular type of hard disk crash is called a head crash. See Head Crash.

In flexography, the term crash refers to a condition in which excessive pressure exists between either the plate cylinder and the impression cylinder or the anilox roller and the plate cylinder, resulting in printing defects such as halos or double impressions.

In binding and finishing, the term crash is a term for a strong, coarse, open-mesh fabric used as a backlining in some casebound books, added to afford the binding extra support.
