Crystal Violet

An organic color pigment used in printing inks. Crystal Violet is a bright violet with good color qualities, but poor resistance to alkalis and soaps. Its low cost makes it acceptable for use in water-based flexographic and gravure packaging inks for applications that don't require high degrees of chemical resistance. Commonly used as an economical substitute for PMTA Violet pigments. (See Organic Color Pigments.)
