The production of video presentations using desktop computers and off-the-shelf video editing software. Although images are recorded using a video camera and are initially prepared on videotape, they are often digitized (using an expansion board designed for the purpose) and input into a video editing program (such as Adobe Premiere or one of a host of others). Additional software and hardware can be used to generate a variety of effects. The finished production may be distributed solely in digital form (such as on a CD-ROM or as part of a larger multimedia production), or output back onto videotape.
