Electronic Publishing

A broad term that describes any means of designing, laying out, composing, assembling, and outputting pages using electronic means, such as computers and electronic printing systems. Desktop publishing is one particular category of electronic publishing system, referring to the assembly of pages on a personal desktop computer operating on a standard platform using off-the-shelf software. Electronic publishing also refers to high-end electronic publishing systems and mid-range systems.
