Fade-Ometer

A device used to measure a paper's lightfastness, or its ability to resist yellowing and fading upon exposure to light, by exposing the paper to light radiation produced from a carbon arc or xenon tube. A Fade-Ometer is also used to measure the fading resistance of inks and other pigments. (See Lightfastness.) A variation of the Fade-Ometer is a Weather-Ometer which is basically a Fade-Ometer equipped with a water jet to simulate the effects of weather. (See Weather-Ometer.) Also spelled Fadeometer.
