A type of pigment used in printing inks characterized by high brilliance when viewed under an ultraviolet light source. They are commonly used in screen printing, where they produce the best results. Although fluorescent pigments are used in other printing processes, their performance is less than optimal since they typically require thick ink films or multiple passes to produce an effective printed image. Fluorescent pigments are only available in a few colors, and they don't intermix well to produce intermediate colors as well as non-fluorescent pigments.
