Fractal

A recently-developed type of geometry which describes a large pattern or shape as a collection of infinite and progressively smaller copies of the image. A fractal image is derived from a mathematical computation that is repeated as often as is desired. Fractal geometry and software for describing it is used in the graphic arts primarily for the creation of beautiful images and designs, as well as for fractal compression.
