Hardening

In the screen printing of textiles, a process in which the mounted stencil is treated with a lacquer so as to make it resistant to the acid or alkali dyes used in the printing of fabrics, and to enable the stencil to withstand long press runs. After lacquering, compressed air is used to force open the image areas of the stencil.
