Ideogram

A picture or symbol that represents an idea, concept, or noun. Chinese and Japanese, for example, are languages made up entirely of ideographs. Common ideographs in modern life are a skull and crossbones (representing poison) or the symbols found on rest room doors. Also known as an ideograph. See Pictograph.
