Internet Architecture Board

A committee formed to coordinate and manage the generally unwieldy Internet. The two subcommittees that comprise the IAB are the Internet Enginnering Task Force, which recommends standard protocols for Internet transmission of data, and the Internet Research Task Force, which explores new technologies and the manner in which they can be applied to the Internet. The IRTF refers their findings to the IETF. See Internet. Formerly called the Internet Activities Board.
