Lay

The position of a printed image on a press sheet. The desired lay of an image is typically squarely in the center of the sheet. The lay of an image is usually gauged at the start of a job by running through one or more lay sheets. Improper lay may necessitate a repositioning of the plate on the plate cylinder.
