Non-Bearer-Contact Press

A type of printing press used in offset lithography in which the blanket and plate cylinder bearers (metal rings located at each end of each cylinder body, with diameters greater than the diameter of the cylinder body itself) do not contact each other while the press is in operation. Whether a press is a non-bearer-contact press or a bearer-contact press affects proper cylinder setting and packing considerations. See Bearer, Plate Cylinder, Blanket Cylinder, and Packing.
