Optical Jump

A problem of printed halftones, commonly those comprising square-shaped halftone dots, in which the corners of the dots in areas of high dot density begin to connect with each, creating a visual darkening of those areas. Altering the shape of halftone dots can alleviate that problem. (See Dot Shape.)
