Orientation

The relation of printed material to the longer and shorter dimension of the sheet of substrate on which it is printed. Two categories of orientation are landscape (lines of text are parallel to the longer dimension) or portrait (the lines of text are parallel to the shorter dimension). In specifying document or page size, the width is expressed first; thus, a portrait orientation would be specified 8H x 11, while a landscape orientation would be specified 11 x 8H.
